The lake Naruskajärvi and the Tuntsa wilderness are located in Northern Salla, close to the Russian border. The area has no permanent residents, so you have a unique opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet and the diverse nature on marked hiking routes and snowmobile trails.
Tuntsan Tunturilomat is located on the shores of the Naruskajoki River in the northern part of the Municipality of Salla, which offers accommodation and catering services, as well as arranging a wide range of different trips in the surrounding countryside. By its terrain, the Tuntsa wilderness is partly treeless fell highland with a number of tall fells, including for instance the Sorsatunturi Fell – Salla’s tallest fell – just visible at a distance of ten kilometres from the Tuntsa Pub. Accommodation is provided at our “main destination” at Naruskajärvi, where the Tuntsa Pub is located in addition to the Tuntsan Pirtti Cabin in the Tuntsa wilderness, and the cabin available for reservations located at the foot of the Sorsatunturi Fell. Travelling along the marked trekking routes, you can easily traverse the Tuntsa fells without the need for a guide.
The River Naruskajoki as well as the Tuntsajoki River that runs into Russia are ideal fishing grounds. You can purchase the necessary fishing permits from us. Opportunities are also available for fishing and ice fishing excursions in the neighbouring regions of Russia. Those with the hunger for gold can try to find their own lucky golden nugget at the Nuoluskuru claim. A snowmobile route travels by our premises (fuel sales) and we also arrange snowmobile safaris in the Tuntsa wilderness and the neighbouring regions of Russia.
