Salla is a family favourite. The safe and peaceful tourist attraction offers many things to do for both children and adults.
In the wintertime, both children and child-like adults can compete in the slope programme on skis, bobsleighs and sledges, and children’s own Werneri Ski School introduces the joys of skiing to new enthusiasts. The ring lift of the family slope will get the smaller children, too, easily to the slope, and it is fun to learn to snowboard in the Burton Riglet Park. A little more experienced speedsters seek air under their boards in the Snowpark on the Eastern slope.
Winter favourites also include mini-skidoos, or children’s own snowmobiles, on the yard of Sallatunturin Tuvat Cottages. On the Lapp Hut Safari and the Northern Light Safari by the Arctic Circle Safaris, the children lie safely in the sleigh pulled on by the guide’s snowmobile. In the Salla Reindeer Park, many different reindeer and husky sleigh rides are popular. On a reindeer feeding trip you really get to feed the cutest little reindeer fawns and their mothers. After the trip, you can all enjoy thin Finnish pancakes in Moiporo’s hut.
In the summertime, the Outalampi Children’s Zoo offers many animals to caress and pet to your heart’s content. Sweet lambs are sure to charm even the wildest of kids. On a canoeing trip, also the smallest of the family have a chance to participate in the paddling on the centre seat of a safe Indian Canoe. You can get to know the local reindeer management culture on the guided reindeer programmes of the Salla Reindeer Park under the guidance of expert guides. You can play and connect with local children at the Liinaharju playground, located in the centre of Salla. After the activities of the day, you can either relax in the warmth of the children’s pool of Holiday Club Spa or in the refreshing water of the Keselmäjärvi beach, right next to the fell.
